For the past several years we have been contacted by clubs competing at Big South, asking if we could put together a scrimmage or other activity for the boys; something for the volleyball-playing brothers to do when their sisters are competing downtown.
In response to the growth in boys volleyball in the Southeast, this year we will again be offering something a boys tournament for U18’s, U16’s and U14’s on Saturday and Sunday, March 31/April 1st: the fourth annual Battle Between Boys Belligerents. While we hope the adjective “belligerent”(“angry and aggressive”) doesn’t apply to our volleyball-playing boys, the noun (“entity who is engaged in a war”) isn’t far off.
The tournament has grown to be the largest non-qualifier Boys tournament in the South, necessitating that it be held over two days rather than one.
Registration will be through AES and will open 10/15. Cost will be $375/team.
Location — Southern Volleyball Center
Waves — We will post waves as soon as we know them to facilitate hotel arrangements.
An entrance fee of $5/person/day will be charged.
Hotel Accommodations — we have blocked out rooms that are economical and close to the competition venue:
Fairfield Inn and Suites
11385 Haynes Bridge Road
Alpharetta, GA 30022
$79/nt includes breakfast
Tell them you are part of the Southern Volleyball Tournaments block when you call.
Food tables will be allowed but we ask that you use the tables we will provide for you and limit yourselves to 1/2 table per team. Certainly you may set up tables outside and tailgate in that manner, weather permitting.
Coaches Meeting – There will be no coaches meeting at this tournament. Rather, we will give coaches one Coaches Packet per team upon check-in and we will also post it on line. This packet will contain a detailed description of each division’s format, along with information that will be of use for all tournament participants and spectators.
If you do not find the information you need on this page please feel free to contact Briana Johnson, Tournament Administrator, and she can help point you in the right direction.
