CVL to Replace SVC’s Middle School Volleyball Feeder Program
In 2012 Southern Volleyball initiated its first Middle School Volleyball Feeder Program. The intent of this initiative was to provide an outlet for middle school students to play competitive volleyball alongside their classmates even though their middle school did not offer such an opportunity. We had well over 100 girls in that first year.
The good news? More and more middle schools are offering a volleyball program to their students.
The bad news? Well, it’s not bad news per se'; rather, it is the natural result of the fact that the sport is growing at these younger ages. With more and more schools offering their own programs, participation at SVC’s began to lag such that athletes were paired with athletes from other schools and the ability for a girl to play alongside her classmate was compromised.
The Best News! We have modified our programming to enhance the level of training middle schoolers can get during the fall, and included a competitive component in the programming. Read on for details.
