Elementary School (“A5 Minis”) Introduction to Volleyball

Boys and girls are starting to play volleyball at earlier and earlier ages, and we want to be at the forefront of this paradigm shift.  Ten years ago there were very few middle school programs and most athletes were first exposed to volleyball when they turned 13.

No more.  When A5 Volleyball Club first fielded a U12 team in 2006, other clubs soon followed suit to the point that in 2015 there were over 100 club volleyball teams for 12, 11 and even 10-year-olds.

This trend is accelerating and we are making a concerted effort to introduce the sport to children while they are still in elementary school.  Thus the introduction of our A5 Minis Program.

All Second through Fifth-grade boys and girls.

Our A5 Minis, a new initiative designed to introduce the sport to this ultra-young age group.  All skills and positions will be taught by A5 coaches—coaches chosen specifically for their experience in working with this age group.

The program will focus on skills training with an emphasis on fun.  Toward the end of the season, competition will be introduced in the form of scrimmages, and game-like competition with ultra-light volleyballs and lower nets – designed specifically for this age group.

Participants will train once a week–on Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., commencing on May 2nd.
